Assistant Manager (Design) – Mechanical & Electrical
Overview
- Salary: 5,000 SGD ~ 6,000 SGD

- Job Description: Our client is one of the largest Japanese contractors. The Assistant Manager (Design) – Mechanical & Electrical is responsible for managing and executing MEP design and supervision activities for building projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and alignment with client requirements. This role reports to the Head of Department (HOD).
Responsibilities
- Execute design and supervision work for commissioned projects in line with construction quality assurance systems, guiding design staff to produce documents that meet client requirements.
- Consolidate project information, report to MEP and Technical & Construction departments, and support problem-solving to achieve project outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance design technologies and apply them effectively in projects.
- Review existing processes to identify solutions for work execution challenges.
- Coordinate and engage with stakeholders through continuous dialogue, understanding their positions and perspectives.
- Develop execution plans based on HOD policies and strategies, lead their implementation, and contribute to achieving departmental objectives.
- Conduct site surveys and consolidate critical information for effective project planning and team communication.
- Prepare comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for MEP services in line with project specifications.
- Generate and maintain BIM documentation, progress reports, lessons learned, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Participate in defect resolution teams and provide strategic recommendations to close client complaints and quality issues.
- Maintain and enhance the MEP Handbook, updating best practices and sharing knowledge within the department.
- Keep the technical library current, including codes of practice and regulatory requirements.
- Propose innovative technical solutions and value‑adding recommendations for clients and consultants.
Qualifications
Must
- Minimum Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- At least 7 years of experience in leading a team
- Experience in building and structural projects, including airport A&A/expansion, shopping centres, factories, and office buildings
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), CAD, and MS Project
- Comprehensive technical knowledge of MEP systems and general architectural and structural design
- Fluent in English for effective communication with stakeholders
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to motivate teams and facilitate collaboration
- Ability to implement departmental policies and strategies in projects
- Capability to identify team challenges and lead solutions while coordinating with internal and external parties

Senior Engineer – Technical, Construction
Responsibilities
- Liaise with sub‑contractors to plan, arrange and carry out construction activities
- Liaise with design department to confirm and clarify design issues
- In charge of Structural aspects and ID works of project, with ID works being the main scope
- Liaise with relevant parties/departments to carry out site inspections
- Ensure quality of work done conforms to specifications
- Maintain accurate records of work completed
- Handle any other ad‑hoc duties and tasks assigned
Assistant Manager (Engineering) – Mechanical & Electrical
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the HOD, the main duties are to formulate basic construction plans for MEP works, ensure safety and quality, expand orders and profits, improve productivity, and strengthen the foundation.
- Based on the HOD's policies and strategies, develop execution plans. Through directing their implementation and achieving organisational performance, contribute to realizing the goals set by the HOD.
- Develop comprehensive project schedules incorporating key milestones including Power Turn On, Water Turn On and Main Equipment Delivery, ensuring alignment with Master schedule requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Design Team (BIM) to coordinate Mechanical & Electrical services integration within BIM platforms and ensure site installation compliance with Coordinated Services Drawings.
- Formulate Testing and Commissioning strategies based on specific project phasing requirements and conduct periodic site audits of T&C activities to ensure quality standards.
- Establish and maintain effective MEP project teams on site through strategic resource allocation and team development initiatives.
- Formulate and implement comprehensive quality control strategies to ensure full compliance with regulatory authorities' and clients' requirements.
- Conduct cost‑benefit analyses to optimise time and resource management for enhanced project efficiency and outcomes.
- Manage MEP contracts with clients, consultants and subcontractors, ensuring contractual compliance and relationship management.
- Finalize engineering designs and solutions through collaborative engagement with clients and consultants, achieving technical and commercial alignment (Main Roles Include).
- In collaboration with related departments, formulate basic construction plans, identify and resolve issues in the construction phase at an early stage and conduct risk assessments.
- Lead the development and deployment of construction technologies, promotion of productivity improvement, support for construction sites during the period, and root‑cause analysis and recurrence prevention when troubles occur.
- Promote construction front‑loading by reflecting production information including productivity improvement methods in design drawings.
- Promote technological development for productivity improvement and deployment to construction sites.
- Guide and train partner companies to improve their technical capabilities and ensure penetration of our company philosophy (Key Competencies Required).
- To solve issues in business execution by reviewing existing processes and systems.
- To coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders through continuous dialogue while showing understanding of their positions and perspectives when necessary for business execution.
