Job description

UWCSEA is seeking a passionate and committed Head of High School Biology and Science Teacher,to join our Dover Campus in August 2026. The Biology Department sits within the broader HS Science Department which is a large, vibrant and successful team. All lessons are taught in avery well-resourced environment for learning in dedicated science classrooms. Teachers are supported by a team of Science technicians.

The Head of High School Biology will provide strategic, collaborative and inclusive leadership to support the concept based teaching and learning of all students. They will ensure that the values which underpin the College mission statement are reflected in the intended learnings.

The successful candidate will lead colleagues in the development, teaching and administration of the curriculum, and identify and address professional development needs as they arise, in consultation with the High School Curriculum Vice Principals.

Within High School Science we offer all of the IB Experimental Sciences in Grades 11 and 12 as well as our bespoke UWCSEA Coordinated Science courses in Grades 9 and 10. In Grade 10 we also offer Biology, Chemistry and Physics as separate science courses that may be taken individually or in combination. The appointee will teach IB Biology and Science. All High School teachers at UWCSEA are also mentors who support a mentor group andmay teach Theory of Knowledge; as required.
