This position requires the Senior Psychologist to provide psychological assessment, individual and group interventions in patient care within a multidisciplinary setting. The role emphasizes maintaining quality standards in clinical service delivery and professional relationships within the team.
The Senior Psychologist works independently on clinical cases of varying complexity and contributes to staff supervision, postgraduate training, and professional education at hospital and cluster levels, with a focus on quality and research programs.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently interview, assess, and manage cases using evidence-based knowledge and therapy interventions.
- Conduct psychometric testing, including intelligence, memory, and neuropsychological assessments tailored to patient needs.
- Deliver professional education appropriate to specialization.
- Lead or co-lead quality and research programs.
- Support team activities and improve team performance.
Specific
Clinical Care
- Demonstrate clinical competency annually via assessment checklist.
- Document findings, interventions, progress, and care plans accurately and timely.
- Maintain workload statistics and handle administrative duties.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to safety standards.
- Develop and review departmental work processes, ensuring staff training and safety.
Education
- Supervise, train, and consult with junior staff.
- Guide management of complex medico-legal cases.
- Serve as Clinical Educator for postgraduate interns.
- Conduct educational talks, workshops, and seminars at various levels.
- Plan and organize educational and public awareness events.
Research
- Stay updated on evidence-based research and integrate findings into practice.
- Critically review literature and present findings.
- Develop research ideas and study designs.
- Participate and lead clinical and quality research projects.
- Present research at conferences.
Management/Leadership
- Manage service delivery, manpower, and resources to meet KPIs.
- Assist in developing and implementing initiatives and tracking outcomes.
- Participate in staff appraisal and training planning.
- Promote teamwork and lead inter-professional collaborations.
- Engage with healthcare professionals in multidisciplinary rounds/discussions.
Setting strategic direction
- Support management in monitoring KPIs, feedback, and surveys to identify improvement areas.
- Evaluate clinical and quality outcomes to inform service improvements.
General
- Support services in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.
- Align with the hospital’s vision, mission, and values.
- Participate in departmental and hospital initiatives.
- Exceed patient expectations and handle challenges positively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education / Training / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (minimum 2:1 Honours), postgraduate qualification in a relevant clinical field, and at least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in community settings.
Professional License
Registered Psychologist with the Singapore Psychological Society or equivalent overseas registration.
Attributes
Strong understanding of operational procedures, ethical standards, and legal requirements. Leadership in case management, team facilitation, and ethical decision-making is essential.
