Role purpose
The role of Digitalization Program Manager leads the planning, execution, and adoption of digital transformation initiatives across logistics operations including warehousing, transportation, last-mile delivery, customs, and customer-facing digital services. The role ensures that digital programs drive operational efficiency, enhance visibility and reliability, elevate customer experience, and enable scalable growth in an increasingly automated and data-driven logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to enhance automation, enable data‑driven decision‑making, and improve digital user experiences.
- Translate business objectives into a clear roadmap of digital initiatives and required capabilities.
- Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, and external partners on all matters related to digitalization.
- Develop digitalization contents and facilitate workshops, training, steering committees, and alignment sessions with key stakeholders.
- Provide clear and regular communication on program progress, risks, and accomplishments.
- Evaluate emerging digital technologies relevant to logistics operations (e.g., Types of AI, NLP, ML, GenAI, Power Platform, Copilot, digital workflow and automation tools, M365 etc).
- Partner closely with global or country IT teams to ensure digital solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams (IT, operations, product, HR, finance, etc.) to drive successful implementation of digital programs.
- Manage program budgets, resources, vendors, and associated risks.
- Collaborate with ITS and software vendors to deliver best‑in‑class service to internal and external customers while optimizing value for money.
- Execute assigned IT implementation projects.
- Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
- Proactively escalates and resolves risks and issues with the reporting manager.
- Ensure all project delivery adheres to DHL’s project management methodologies and compliance requirements.
Strategic & Digital Visioning
- Shape a digital transformation strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Identify opportunities across automation, AI/ML, analytics, cloud modernization, and workflow digitization.
- Develop and articulate a clear digital roadmap that links technology potential to measurable business outcomes.
- Demonstrate the ability to bridge business needs with emerging technologies.
Program & Portfolio Management
- Oversee end‑to‑end delivery of digital programs across regions and functional areas.
- Establish strong governance, monitoring progress, budgets, KPIs, and outcomes.
- Manage risks, dependencies, and cross‑project impacts effectively.
Process & Business Analysis
- Analyse, map, and redesign business processes to enable digital transformation.
- Translate business requirements into actionable digital product specifications.
- Assess organizational impact and prepare teams for new digital ways of working.
Technology Literacy
- Familiar with AI and analytics capabilities that support business optimization.
Stakeholder & Change Management
- Engage and influence diverse stakeholders across regions and organizational levels.
- Communicate complex digital concepts in clear, business‑friendly language.
- Lead change adoption initiatives including training, communications, and champion networks.
- Nurture expectations, resistance, and cultural nuances throughout transformation efforts.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage external technology partners, consultancies, and solution providers.
- Evaluate solution proposals and ensure delivery meets agreed scope and quality.
- Oversee SLAs, commercial negotiations, and contract compliance.
Innovation Mindset & Agile Leadership
- Champion experimentation through PoCs and pilot initiatives.
- Foster a culture of innovation and digital‑first thinking.
Expected Years of Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in digital transformation, IT leadership, or product/program management.
- Solid understanding of AI, automation, data analytics, and emerging digital technologies.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate digital concepts and narratives to stakeholders across operations, IT, warehouse, transport teams, and customers.
- Good grasp of how digital ecosystems are built, connected, and scaled.
- Experience in selecting vendors and systems within the digitization landscape.
- Innovative, analytical, and solution‑oriented mindset.
- Proficient in program and portfolio management.
- Experience rolling out digital or automation solutions across multi‑site logistics operations is a plus.
- Strong awareness of the logistics sector, especially in freight forwarding is a plus.
