It supports the continuity of curriculum in nurturing and inspiring children to become inquisitive, creative, compassionate, independent, and responsible individuals. With this approach, the teacher will know children’s strengths and needs, thus supporting a positive social dynamic in the classroom.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed, and experienced Waldorf Class teacher to start with us as soon as possible. You will be part of a small team of teachers responsible for the primary school. You will also be able to relate to, communicate, and cooperate closely with colleagues, parents, and the wider community. The suitable candidate must be proficient and fluent in English and show:

• An undergraduate degree and a certificate in Waldorf primary school teaching
• At least five years experience working as a class teacher in a Waldorf school
• Having completed a Primary School Waldorf cycle will be advantageous.

1. To provide a balanced curriculum at a pace suitable to the children’s age and development, based on a deep understanding of Waldorf pedagogy/child development, with a commitment to exploring and developing innovative educational practices and initiatives found locally and across the globe.
2. To give regard to the sound teaching of literacy and numeracy in line with the above.
3. To really ‘see’ the children, seek to understand them, and work creatively to nurture the healthy development of their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive capacities, understanding their strengths and weaknesses and structuring work accordingly.
4. To engage in pedagogical study/discussion and child observation with colleagues and take a proactive and compassionate approach to addressing areas of concern/need.
5. To undertake appropriate preparation, study, and training as necessary for the effective delivery of the curriculum and to advance the school’s ethos, principles, and objectives.
6. To work openly and collaboratively with parents, organizing and presenting Parent Evenings and individual consultation sessions, including Home Visits when required, including them as partners in their child’s education.
7. To liaise with subject teachers, learning support, and curative staff and facilitate class screening when appropriate.
8. To prepare the class for festivals and class plays and support subject teachers.
9. To organize and participate in class outings, trips, and events.
10. To organize, conduct, and participate in physical activities in warm weather, such as bike rides, and movement games.
11. To keep appropriate records, keep pupil files up to date, and keep records of communications with parents, therapists, educational psychologists, etc.
12. To write yearly pupil reports for parents and collate them with subject teachers’ reports.

1. Take part in the appraisal of your work performance and be prepared to assist in the appraisal process, including peer observation.
2. Organize materials for class use and liaise with those responsible for the purchase.
3. To monitor and keep within agreed budgets.
4. Attend regular staff meetings and occasional meetings outside school hours where necessary.
5. Attend inset and training days, as required.
6. Respect and adhere to the school’s policies and procedures and to support their implementation.
7. Cover absent colleagues as requested and able (i.e. supply cover).
8. Share responsibility for supervision of all pupils during non-class hours within the school day. Undertake break-time duties.
