Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Malacca City is hiring a Senior Tooling / Design Engineer. In this role, you will lead the design and development of stamping dies and tooling. You will be responsible for CAD-based die design and will work closely with suppliers to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of tooling. Candidates should have at least 3 years of extensive experience in tooling design as well as proficiency in CAD software such as UG NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks. A strong background in tooling improvement projects is highly desirable.

Job description

We’re hiring a Senior Tooling / Design Engineer to lead stamping die design and tooling development. The role involves CAD-based die design, RFQ and project management, supplier coordination, and production support. You’ll drive tool life improvement, cost optimization, and on-time delivery while supporting new product and manufacturing excellence initiatives.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Tool & Die Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field or

Diploma in Tooling with minimum 2 years of relevant tooling experience.

Experience

Minimum 3 years in tool design or maintenance.

Preferably in progressive stamping tools for semiconductor leadframes, connectors, or automotive parts.

Proven track record in tooling improvement and cost reduction projects.

Strong knowledge of progressive die design principles, die components, and tool steels

Proficiency in CAD software (UG NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD).

Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

Knowledge of material properties, heat treatment processes, and surface coating technologies.

Comprehensive understanding of stamping processes: blanking, piercing, bending, forming, coining, and drawing.

Familiarity with Quality Management Systems IATF 16949 and ISO 14001.

Experience with quality tools: FMEA, Control Plans, 8D methodology, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
