Job Responsibilities
- Lead and perform setup, operation, and programming of CNC machines (lathe, milling, grinding, drilling, etc.) to produce high-precision components according to engineering drawings.
- Plan and optimize tooling, jigs, and fixtures to improve cycle time and production efficiency.
- Interpret complex technical drawings and machining instructions with strong attention to dimensional accuracy and tolerances.
- Train and guide junior machinists on machine setup, operation, and quality control procedures.
- Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Troubleshoot machining issues, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime and scrap.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance to ensure machines run at peak performance.
- Record and maintain accurate production and process data for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to support process improvements and new part development.
- Ensure full compliance with safety, 5S, and environmental standards.
- Support and uphold ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 14001 requirements through disciplined process control and documentation.
Education
Certificate or Diploma in Machining Technology, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Experience
Minimum 5 years hands‑on experience in machining operations (CNC or manual machines). Proven ability to independently set up, program, operate, and troubleshoot machines.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in CNC and/or manual machining (lathe, milling, grinding, drilling).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and machining tolerances.
- Skilled in machine setup, tool selection, tool offsets, and parameter adjustments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for machining issues, dimensional errors, and surface finish problems.
Measurement & Quality Skills
- Proficient in using measuring instruments (Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Dial Gauge, etc.).
- Ability to perform in‑process inspection and ensure products meet specifications.
Process & Productivity
- Able to plan machining sequences, optimize cutting parameters, and reduce cycle time.
- Experience with jig/fixture usage and basic preventive maintenance on machines.
Safety & Compliance
- Knowledge of machining safety, PPE usage, lock‑out procedures, and safe machine handling.
- Awareness of IMS requirements (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001).
Reporting & Documentation
- Ability to complete production reports, in‑process checklists, quality records, and machine logbooks.
Preferred Qualifications / Added Advantage
- Experience operating CNC Fanuc / Siemens / Haas or other specific controllers.
- Skilled in basic CAD/CAM programming (e.g., Mastercam, SolidCAM, Fusion 360).
- Ability to train junior machinists or lead a small machining team.
- Experience in jig/fixture design or improvement.
- Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement tools.
- Familiarity with advanced measuring tools (CMM, Vision System).
- Exposure to machining high‑precision components (±0.01 mm or better).
