Job Overview: Sejarah Teacher (Secondary)
Sekolah Sri UCSI is seeking a passionate and qualified Secondary Sejarah Teacher to join our dynamic academic team. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality Sejarah instruction to secondary school students, fostering a deep understanding of Malaysian and world history while nurturing critical thinking, analytical skills, and an appreciation of historical perspectives. This role requires strong subject knowledge, effective classroom management, and a commitment to holistic student development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate Sejarah lessons for secondary-level students in alignment with the school curriculum.
- Teach Sejarah topics effectively, covering historical events, themes, and developments relevant to the secondary syllabus.
- Foster students’ analytical, critical thinking, and interpretative skills through discussions, source analysis, and inquiry-based learning.
- Incorporate a variety of teaching methods, including multimedia resources, project-based learning, debates, and historical case studies.
- Monitor and assess student progress through tests, assignments, presentations, and projects; provide timely and constructive feedback.
- Encourage independent learning and active participation in classroom discussions.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding students’ academic progress and well-being.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching strategies and contribute to curriculum development.
- Support and participate in extracurricular activities related to humanities, such as history clubs, cultural events, exhibitions, or academic competitions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in History, Education, or a related discipline.
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed, PGCE, or equivalent).
- At least 2 years of experience teaching Sejarah or History at the secondary school level.
- Strong subject knowledge and effective classroom management skills.
- Experience with the Cambridge or Malaysian curriculum is preferred but not essential.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools to support teaching and learning.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and innovative teaching practices.
