This role is responsible for setting up, developing, and maintaining chemical and material-related manufacturing processes to improve yield, quality, reliability, and throughput (UPH). The Process Engineer will lead troubleshooting and root cause investigations on process and quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies, statistical analysis, Six Sigma tools, and other quality systems.
The ideal candidate has a Chemical Engineering background, strong understanding of materials and chemical processes, and hands-on experience in process optimization. Knowledge of phosphor materials and their application in LED manufacturing is highly desirable.
Own and sustain stable chemical, material deposition, coating, bonding, or related manufacturing processes used in LED or semiconductor production.
Take full process ownership for quality, yield, process capability, stability, cost, CpK, and other key performance indicators.
Conduct process window studies using Design of Experiments (DoE) and statistical tools to optimize process performance, cost, and quality.
Lead process development and optimization activities, with focus on material chemistry, interactions, and long-term reliability.
Establish robust process conditions and provide technical support and training to operations teams.
Develop and maintain material, chemical, and equipment specifications, including acceptance criteria and control limits.
Lead process transfer, qualification, and ramp-up activities for new materials, tools, or technologies.
Drive Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP) to improve yield, performance, capacity, and cost competitiveness.
Create, maintain, and ensure compliance with process documentation, procedures, and certifications in accordance with safety, quality, legal, and customer requirements.
Perform risk assessments and define control strategies to ensure process stability; act as owner of PFMEA, control plans, and work instructions.
Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or closely related field (Materials Science, Chemistry, Applied Science).
3–5 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing, or chemical/materials-related production environments.
Strong knowledge of chemical process fundamentals, material behavior, and process control.
Experience using statistical analysis tools, SPC, FMEA, 8D problem solving, DMAIC, or Six Sigma methodologies.
Hands-on, problem-solving mindset with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Detail-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge or hands-on experience with phosphor materials, including formulation, handling, coating, dispersion, or application in LED or optical devices.
Experience in LED, semiconductor, or advanced materials manufacturing.
