Job description

Manage assigned product categories (e.g. sofas, dining, bedding, office, outdoor)

Develop and maintain a commercially balanced assortment aligned with brand positioning

Manage product lifecycle from introduction to growth to clearance

Ensure product mix supports target margin, volume, and sales per sqft

Work with local and overseas suppliers on:

  • MOQs

  • Lead times

  • Product specifications

Conduct cost negotiations to meet margin targets

Evaluate and onboard new suppliers when required

Set and review selling prices based on:

  • Cost structure

  • Target margin

Support promotional pricing and markdown strategies

Ensure gross margin targets are achieved at category level

Monitor:

  • Sell-through

  • Inventory ageing

  • Stock cover

Work with planning / operations to:

  • Rebalance stock between stores

  • Identify slow-moving SKUs

Propose clearance strategies to protect cash flow

1. Product & Range Management
  • Manage assigned product categories (e.g. sofas, dining, bedding, office, outdoor)

  • Develop and maintain a commercially balanced assortment aligned with brand positioning

  • Manage product lifecycle from introduction to growth to clearance

  • Ensure product mix supports target margin, volume, and sales per sqft

2. Sourcing & Supplier Management
  • Work with local and overseas suppliers on:

    • Pricing

    • MOQs

    • Lead times

    • Product specifications

  • Conduct cost negotiations to meet margin targets

  • Evaluate and onboard new suppliers when required

  • Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, consistency)

3. Pricing & Margin Control
  • Set and review selling prices based on:

    • Cost structure

    • Target margin

    • Market benchmarking

  • Support promotional pricing and markdown strategies

  • Ensure gross margin targets achieved at category level

4. Inventory & Sales Performance
  • Monitor:

    • Sell-through

    • Inventory ageing

    • Stock cover

  • Work with planning / operations to:

    • Rebalance stock between stores

    • Identify slow-moving SKUs

  • Propose clearance strategies to protect cash flow

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Align with Marketing on:

    • Campaign priorities

    • New launches

    • Hero SKUs

  • Work with Retail Operations on:

    • Stock availability

    • Store feedback

    • Display readiness

  • Support Project / Procurement teams by:

    • Leveraging existing SKUs

    • Assisting in sourcing when required

Requirement

1) Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field.

2) 1–3 years of experience in merchandising, retail, or related field (fresh graduates with strong interest in retail/merchandising may also be considered).

3) Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends. Good communication and negotiation skills when dealing with suppliers and internal teams.
