Global Risk
Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, operational, credit, pension, insurance, compliance, regulatory, market, reputation, and geopolitical risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight, and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

Principle Responsibilities
- Management of a portfolio of High Risk and Problem Exposure (HRPE) accounts to minimise financial losses through an efficient and effective recovery/work‑out process with appropriate regard to commercial, legal and reputational considerations.
- Provide know‑how, expertise and problem‑solving skills within corporate recovery and workout to the Risk functions and coordinate account strategies, recovery and work‑out efforts across these areas where appropriate.
- Provide credit advisory service and monitoring work to Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) on Watch Worry Monitor (WWM) List accounts, as appropriate.
- Facilitate improvements on credit lending by drawing observations from incoming accounts and disseminating learning points through training opportunities and Lessons Learned.
- Cover HBMS; performance is assessed on HBMS KPIs in the current PLA and the holder is accountable for applicable Shariah risk related controls.
Impact on the Business / Function
- Manage accounts classified as CRR 7.0 – 10.0 to minimise not only financial losses, maximise recovery and accurately assess Stage 3 allowances, protecting and maintaining the Bank’s reputation.
- Support development, negotiation and delivery of appropriate recovery strategies in different scenarios.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to senior management and regulatory authorities.
Customers / Stakeholders
- Deliver fair outcomes for customers and maintain own conduct that supports orderly and transparent financial market operations.
- Maintain oversight on accounts in the WWM List.

- Adhere to HSBC policy, procedures and control requirements in day‑to‑day work and raise concerns about actual or potential issues promptly according to reporting and escalation procedures.
- Apply Group/BNM policies, procedures, practices and standards to allocated tasks, taking responsibility for own actions to achieve high quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Establish and maintain a robust control environment across the function, ensuring good operational, financial and project management and compliance with HSBC policy and procedures, with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues.
Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
- Minimum five years’ relevant experience in corporate recovery or credit risk.
- Sound understanding of corporate recovery and the associated legal framework.
- Good interpersonal, strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Able to work under pressure.
