What's the Role?

We are looking for an IT Product Owner overseeing the end-to-end management and strategic direction of Microsoft Purview, with a key focus on data security.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams including cybersecurity, compliance, and legal teams to develop and implement data governance frameworks that protect sensitive data, ensure compliance, and enable seamless data security across the organization.

What You'll Do

Your responsibilities will include defining and executing the product roadmap, managing stakeholder requirements, overseeing user stories, and ensuring that Purview is fully optimised to meet organisational needs while adhering to security and compliance requirements.

  • Define and communicate the strategic vision for Purview, ensuring alignment with the company’s data governance, data security, and compliance goals. Own the long‑term roadmap to continuously improve data security and governance practices.
  • Lead the development of governance frameworks that establish and enforce policies around data access, classification, retention, and deletion. Ensure that data lifecycle management processes align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including data engineers, architects, cyber defence, compliance, and legal, to understand business requirements, translate them into actionable insights, and prioritise them in the product backlog.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements such as GDPR and other data protection laws are properly implemented.
  • Monitor and report on data security & compliance risks and help mitigate any non‑compliance issues.
  • Leverage analytics and user feedback to iteratively improve the Purview solution. Drive innovation and the adoption of best practices.
Champion Adoption

Champion the training and adoption of Purview across the organisation by facilitating training, creating documentation, and supporting teams as they integrate Purview into their workflows.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven 3 years of experience as a Product Owner or Platform Manager with a focus on data security, governance, or compliance, preferably within a cloud‑based platform such as Microsoft Purview, Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • In‑depth knowledge of data security principles, frameworks, and best practices, including data theft/leakage prevention, encryption, access control, information management and data classification.
  • Strong understanding of data management platforms, particularly Microsoft Purview or similar solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders to bridge business and technical requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess data governance and security challenges, develop strategies, and prioritise solutions effectively.
