French and Spanish Teacher (IB DP / IB MYP)
Middle and High School Spanish and French Teacher

Middle and High School Principal
Primary Functions
- Provide leadership and structure for the Spanish and French Language Acquisition programs in the Middle and High School.
- Strengthen critical thinking, cultural understanding, and global awareness through inquiry based language instruction.
- Work closely with colleagues to support strong teaching and learning aligned with the IB Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme.
Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Delivery
- Design and teach engaging inquiry based Spanish and French lessons that follow the IB MYP and DP frameworks.
- Connect learning to interdisciplinary themes and real world contexts to deepen student understanding.
- Include cultural perspectives, traditions, and histories from Spanish speaking and French speaking communities.
Planning and Coordination
- Collaborate with colleagues in other subject areas to support interdisciplinary learning.
- Create lesson plans and resources that support diverse learners and promote inclusive practice.
- Help organize school events that celebrate cultural diversity and linguistic heritage.
Assessment and Feedback
- Use formative and summative assessments aligned with MYP and DP criteria to monitor student learning.
- Maintain clear records and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and school leadership.
- Prepare progress reports and take part in parent teacher conferences.
Resource Management
- Maintain and organize teaching materials, authentic texts, and multimedia resources for both languages.
- Work with school leadership to request and secure resources that support language learning and interdisciplinary projects.
Professional Development and Collaboration
- Lead or join professional learning sessions that strengthen understanding of MYP and DP language acquisition.
- Contribute to MYP and DP team meetings, grade level planning, and professional learning communities.
- Continue to build professional knowledge in language acquisition, intercultural learning, and inquiry based practice.
Communication and Engagement
- Communicate clearly and in a timely manner with students, families, staff, and administrators.
- Prepare newsletters, presentations, and content that highlight student learning and cultural activities.
- Foster a classroom environment that values cultural diversity, global citizenship, and curiosity.
- Organize events, guest speaker sessions, and projects connected to Spanish speaking and French speaking cultures.
Student Support and Safety
- Create a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages student well being.
- Differentiate instruction to support learners with varying language proficiency levels and individual needs.
Additional Duties
- Lead at least one after school club, sport, or activity.
- Chaperone one after school event such as a school social or prom.
- Assist with general school duties including break and lunch supervision.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Middle and High School Principal.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Education, Spanish, French, or a related field. A Master degree is preferred.
- Teaching credential or certificate in language education.
- At least three years of teaching experience, ideally within an IB international school.
- Experience teaching Spanish and French in the MYP and DP is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of inquiry based and conceptual learning.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work positively in a multicultural international school setting.
