Job description

The Director for Student Experience is responsible for creating and supporting a high-quality student life experience for all students at the University of Cyberjaya and the Cyberjaya Colleges. The position holder creates, implements, and facilitates opportunities for co-curricular learning and student leadership development. The position holder will also promote proactive retention activities and student engagement. The position holder works closely with and supports the Vice Chancellor in achieving key institutional goals, in particular the University's strategic plan and its aspirations in upward national and international ratings and rankings.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and measure key student experience metrics;
  • Develop a strategic plan to facilitate superior student life experiences and holistic well-being across the student life cycle. Ensure periodic reporting at the University Management Committee;
  • Create a vibrant and dynamic student community by ensuring a range of activities and engagement on campus by the student clubs and societies;
  • Organise highly effective Orientation programs and orientation activities to facilitate local and international students settling into University life.
  • Lead student-centric support services through delivery of proactive initiatives utilising a continuum of support approaches. Where relevant, connect students with staff members from the Faculty/Centre for programme advice and academic progress to support student retention and completion;
  • Provide international students the required support for exchange programmes, study tours, and other practical experiences to develop their intercultural communication skills and intercultural awareness;
  • Identify, track and review key metrics for students' success at the University and colleges. Develop strategies to address gaps in student success factors. Prepare and present periodic reports on action plans and improvements;
  • Actively promote the University's academic programmes to government agencies, state bodies, NGOs, banks, and other relevant agencies to secure scholarships and study loans for students.
  • Oversee student clubs and societies and ensure effective engagement with student representatives to cultivate impactful partnerships;
  • Create an effective communications network with student leaders. Meet student representatives on a regular basis to address issues of concern. Introduce effective interventions to address concerns/complaints and monitor progress;
  • Prepare, inspire and empower students to achieve successful career transitions by developing and successfully implementing effective centralised internship placements, career guidance and employability services and employer engagement programmes;
  • Develop an engagement strategy with potential employers to build the University's profile;
  • Foster collaboration between the University and external parties by engaging students, parents, communities, government agencies, and members of the public through participation in community organisations, student organisations, and other entities relevant to the University; and
  • Oversee the development and implementation of programs and initiatives to promote external engagement and alumni relations.
Qualifications
  • At least a Master's degree. Candidates with a PhD will have an added advantage;
  • A strong background in academia and at least a minimum of 5 years in leadership experience;
  • A proven track record in the areas of student development, career services, employer engagement and/or strategic networking;
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills; and Problem solving and organisation skills.
