Primarily responsible to conduct Compliance Review/Quality Assurance on the conduct and practices of Business Units to ensure adherence to internal / group policies and local regulatory requirements.

The role requires the incumbent to collaborate closely with various Business Units to identify potential areas of non-compliance; develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of issues, and provide guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.

A significant part of the role will also involve regular engagement with the Regional Compliance team to ensure appropriate reporting and timely escalations of compliance issues.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Plan review assignment effectively with identification of high-risk areas to ensure compliance standards are met against internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and complete review assignment in accordance with the specified standards and within the allocated timeline as specified in the Term of Reference (TOR).
  • Identify compliance gap and inadequate procedures in place and provide sound and acceptable recommendations to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure thoroughness of review fieldwork with proper supporting documents / working papers based on the approved assignment programme.
  • To complete and submit draft report with quality and accuracy within allocated timeline as specified in the TOR. Extra time needed must be justified.
  • To follow-up and monitor the progress of the corrective actions to resolve the identified lapses and gap by the respective action owner for issues raised.
  • To ensure reminders are sent to respective action owner for resolution of action items.
  • Ensure the Business carry out the rectification action based on the agreed action plan and timeline.
  • Regularly report the status of the findings and action plan to the management.
  • To provide assistant/ inputs on the 2nd line review forum lead by Group Corporate Compliance.
  • Foster and maintain good relationship through regular engagement with BNM/Group to discuss regulatory/Group compliance matters.
Job Requirements
  • A degree in Accountancy, Actuarial or equivalent.
  • A recognised preliminary qualification in Shariah such as Certificate in Islamic Law, Islamic Financial Practitioner (IFP), Shariah RFP or equivalent is an advantage.
  • Should have experience of at least 5 years in regulatory compliance/auditing/investigation. Experience and familiarity with Takaful business and Shariah consideration is an advantage.
