Role Overview

The Deputy Head Pastoral (Primary) will play a key role in promoting a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students. Working closely with the Head of Primary and pastoral teams, you will lead initiatives that foster positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and strong relationships within the school community.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor Honours Degree minimum; relevant qualifications in education or child development preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in pastoral care or student welfare roles within a UK curriculum setting.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding policies, child protection procedures, and mental health awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to engage effectively with students, parents, staff, and external agencies.
  • Proven leadership abilities including managing teams and implementing pastoral programmes.
  • Ability to analyse data related to student wellbeing to inform strategies for improvement.
  • Skilled at conflict resolution, counselling techniques, and supporting diverse learner needs.
