Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Data Scientist having 8+ years of combined experience in Analytics, Science and Gen AI. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our initiatives at the intersection of Gen AI, agents, ML and software engineering. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize solutions using traditional machine learning as well as Gen AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy ML models such as predictive models, time series forecasting models or survival models.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines on a hyperscaler (preferably GCP).
• Implement MLOps best practices including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, training/evaluation and model governance on a hyperscaler (preferably GCP).
• Use Gen AI and Agentic AI to build end-to-end custom solutions and implement them in a hyperscaler (preferably GCP).
• Ensure scalability, security, and cost efficiency of AI/ML workloads.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across time zones to achieve the project goal and deliver solutions/products.
• Work closely and communicate efficiently with the client to understand their needs and meet their expectation on requirements and deliverables.
• Mention junior team members, brainstorm with them to scope and troubleshoot, provide meaningful advice to help address technical barriers.

We are looking for a proactive Data Scientist with 1+ years of experience to join our team. This role will involve collaborating closely with Product Owners and Data Engineers to develop advanced algorithms and digital features. You will be working primarily with time series data from various controllers that transmit data via telematics, with a focus on descriptive and predictive modeling to optimize equipment uptime and minimize downtime. Our products serve the Mining and Power Generation sectors worldwide, requiring expertise in data science with a controls engineering background and the ability to work in a global, cross-functional environment.

What You Will Be Doing

• Develop new or modify existing algorithms and features that leverage Python, SQL, and PySpark to enhance data analytics and processing capabilities.
• Design, implement, and validate descriptive and predictive models, utilizing time series data to assess and predict equipment downtime and failure modes.
• Work collaboratively with Product Owners and Data Engineers to define requirements, gather and curate data, and develop digital solutions to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
• Process and curate data from controllers across telematics systems, ensuring data quality and readiness for model training and development.
• Analyze, interpret, and model time series data to drive actionable insights for product performance and predictive maintenance.
• Communicate findings, challenges, and solutions effectively with global teams, stakeholders, and non-technical audiences.

The Ideal Candidate

• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Experience with PySpark for big data processing
• Solid understanding of time series data analysis and predictive modeling
• Experience with real-time telemetry data acquisition from a network of distributed Modbus controllers is a plus
• Industry experience with embedded controls for industrial or automotive applications
• Experience working in Mining, Power Generation, or related heavy equipment industries
• Familiarity with data engineering and pipeline development

• Advanced English

Location

Monterrey or Mexico City mainly (remote position but willing to assist eventually to the offices when its required, e.g. when upper management or clients from US visit Mexico).
