WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

We are hiring a Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer for our Jakarta office, as part of the Footwear Manufacturing Engineering team. Reporting to the Director of Footwear Manufacturing Systems Engineering, you'll collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering team, Factory Partners and other teams across Product Creation, Sourcing, Responsible Supply Chain, and Cost Engineering. This role covers all factory partners located within the country and ensures alignment with the Partner Management Office leadership.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing Nike’s global Footwear Manufacturing Engineering strategic initiatives. By utilising a standardised approach and fostering the development of future‑ready leaders.

  • Brings a minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in Engineering, Quality Management, Product Development, Automation, Lean, or Manufacturing, along with 3‑5 years of leadership or influential team experience in Footwear or comparable industries.
  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Business Management, or a related field; a Master’s degree is considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrates strong system thinking, considering manufacturing at a holistic level, and is highly data‑driven, leveraging statistical tools for informed decision‑making.
  • Shows forward‑thinking and conceptual problem‑solving skills, always seeking diverse perspectives and challenging conventional approaches.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of manufacturing operations, including systems, processes, technologies, and materials, to identify opportunities and drive measurable progress.
  • Has a proven track record of working effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Exhibits strong people leadership and communication skills in English, is proficient with standard MS Office and business intelligence tools such as Tableau and Power BI, and is willing to travel 15‑20% of the time.

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, factory partners, and cross‑functional teams to drive initiatives, implement functional best practices, introduce new tools and systems, and establish forums that enhance product delivery, quality, and excellence.
  • Develop, implement, and validate effective quality solutions and best practices in partnership with Manufacturing Engineering to elevate product quality.
  • Shape the future of quality by influencing results among internal stakeholders and factory partner teams, and by designing tools to monitor progress effectively.
  • Foster manufacturing improvement through capability development and the implementation of modernised manufacturing solutions.
  • Drive manufacturing innovation at scale.
  • Ensure adherence to global Footwear Manufacturing Engineering strategies, while delivering impactful, locally tailored solutions.
