Overview

Location: Bali, Indonesia. Type: Hours/Days: Project based.

Welcome to Motel. Our story began during a road trip in the 1990s, where our founders Will and Andy travelled across America collecting vintage items while living out of motels. They started purchasing vintage clothing in the USA and selling it wholesale, which eventually led to the creation of stores. From there, they began designing reworked vintage pieces, and thus, Motel was born. Over 30 years and a team of 200+ people later, every piece of clothing we make is created with the same spirit of fun, freedom and adventure as the road trip that first defined the brand. We’re still ambitious and independent, but now we’re a global team - we work from an operational base in Worcester, a design studio in London and a creative studio in Bali.

The role

We’re looking for a Freelance Stylist to collaborate with our Shoot Team in Bali on a project basis. You’ll play a key role in translating our creative vision into impactful content across e-commerce shoots and campaigns. Projects will involve end-to-end styling support—concepting looks, sourcing pieces, and executing styling on set.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

E-Comm Shoots

• Liaise with Design on styling direction, customer focus, and end use.
• Pre-style all looks with clear jewellery and accessory choices.
• Attend pre-shoot fit sessions with the DVL team to test out the styling elements.
• Create briefs for hair and makeup, and discuss with MUA.
• Attend all E-comm Shoots.
• Oversee model dressing, hair, and makeup on set.
• Review live imagery and note any fit comments/suggestions for DVL.

Campaign & Content Shoots

• Collaborate with Design to align on vibe, audience, and styling direction.
• Source and order or create new styling pieces.
• Pre-style full looks with accessories and jewellery.
• Attend pre-shoot fit sessions with the DVL team to test out the styling elements.
• Attend all Campaign Shoots.
• Capture BTS/iPhone content on shoot days.

Trend & Styling Research

• Analyse Fashion Week shows for relevant, on-brand inspiration.
• Maintain and regularly update a styling ‘wishlist’ from IG, Pinterest, etc.
• Research fresh accessories, jewellery, hair, and makeup trends.
• Collaborate with Buying/DVL to identify styling gaps for general use and specific collections.
• Buy new accessories for styling.

• Valid work permit to work from Bali.
• Strong knowledge of current fashion trends and styling techniques.
• Highly organised with excellent communication skills.
• Creative eye with the ability to bring concepts to life.
• Strong team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
• Experience working on-set and directing talent (models, MUAs).
• Comfortable balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
