Job description

PT Komoditas Servis Internasional ("KSI") is seeking driven and detailed orientated individuals to join our Operations team. We are looking for candidates with at least 3 years of experience in commodity trading operations, logistics, shipping, accounting, finance or a related field, who are eager to work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.

As a Trading Operations Associate, you will play a vital role in KSI’s physical commodity services operations. With a team of over 24 professionals, KSI is a leading commodity services company based in Jakarta. We provide services to leading international commodity traders in relation to the execution of Indonesian physical commodity trading flows.

The Role

Initially, your focus will be on supporting the daily operations of KSI and provide support and advisory services to physical shipments of commodities being exported from Indonesia. This will involve helping manage the end-to-end execution of physical trades and serving as a critical link between traders, operations, finance teams, commodity suppliers, commodity buyers and banks.

As you grow and develop in the role, you will become more involved in managing physical flows from end to end and developing broader relationships across required commodity ecosystems. You will report directly to senior KSI operations leaders and work closely with other experienced executives.

Key responsibilities
  • Contracts & Documentation: Assist in drafting and negotiating coal sales and coal purchase agreements. Once shipments are executed assist in checking and coordinating cargo documentation (BL, COO, LOI etc.).
  • Logistics Coordination: Heping ensure that commodity shipments are executed cleanly including scheduling laycans with suppliers and buyers. Appointing of coal surveyors at load port and discharge port. Once shipments are complete prepare and finalise laytime calculations.
  • Finance Coordination: Arranging letters of credit from counter parties and ensuring timely receipt and payment for cargos.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports on trading activities, market trends, and performance metrics. Contribute to internal and external presentations.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Coordinate with partners, logistics, finance, and shipping teams to ensure smooth execution of trade transactions. Assist in resolving operational issues.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
  • More than 3 years experience in accounting, finance, commodity trading, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, self-motivated, and a strong team player with a collaborative yet competitive mindset.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to perform well under pressure and adapt to fast-paced environments.
  • Some understanding of physical commodity trading operations and contracts.
  • Ability to pre-empt the issues/problems and prompt action to resolve the same.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to complete work.
