A regional education organization in Northern Ireland is seeking a CSU Educational Partner to lead support initiatives for Special Schools and EOTAS settings. The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing educational outcomes and navigating challenges within the wider education sector. Applicants must hold a teaching qualification, have significant experience in leading educational improvements, and possess excellent analytical and communication skills. The role emphasizes collaboration and adaptability to meet educational priorities effectively.
Service Area: Education Directorate – Controlled Schools’ Unit
RESPONSIBLE TO: Programme Director Controlled Schools’ Unit
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Leading the provision of high‑quality strategic support and challenge to Special Schools & EOTAS settings across the region, improving educational provision and outcomes, and supporting the Education Authority’s implementation of the TransformED programme and other DE and EA priorities.
The Controlled Schools’ Unit provides high‑quality strategic support and challenge to Controlled School principals, Boards of Governors and school staff to raise standards and improve educational outcomes. The CSU seeks to support a network of self‑evaluating, sustainable, high‑performing schools with effective leadership, teaching and empowerment of pupils.
All Controlled Schools will be monitored, supported and challenged through the CSU. The CSU Educational Partners use a range of intervention strategies, broker services, and nurture networks to facilitate school‑to‑school support at a sectoral level.
Educational Partners work closely with other officers across the Education Directorate and other Directorates to ensure that school improvement is integral to regional services.

5. The Selection Panel reserves the right to shortlist only those applicants that it believes most strongly meet the criteria for the role.
6. In the event of an excessive number of applications, the Selection Panel also reserves the right to apply any desirable criteria as outlined in Section 3 at shortlisting, in which case these will be applied in the order listed.

The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 defines working directly with children or young people or in specified places as ‘regulated activity’. In the event that you are recommended for appointment to a post that involves ‘regulated activity’, the Education Authority will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure of Criminal Background. Please note that you will be expected to meet the cost of an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate. Details of how to make payment will be sent to you at the pre‑employment stage.
