Job description
Assistant Practitioner – Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Practitioner post to support our highly specialised team of Pelvic Health physiotherapists working cross-site within the Acute and Community MSK Teams.

Overview

The Pelvic Health Physiotherapy service works both with our partnership organisation, and other local providers, to assess and treat patients with a range of acute and chronic Pelvic Health conditions, including ante and postnatal, post operative urogynaecology, oncology, and bowel dysfunction. The teams work very closely with the consultant body and multidisciplinary team, to ensure patients follow our pathways of care based on current research evidence and NICE guidelines. You will work across the pelvic health service in both acute and community teams, supporting physiotherapists to deliver high-quality care in line with Trust values. As part of your competency programme, you will review and progress patient treatment following agreed protocols and pathways. Once competencies and the Apprenticeship Award are achieved, you will lead urogynae and antenatal education classes, provide follow‑up, and act as first contact for prostatectomy assessments. Data collection will be central to the role, supporting monitoring of outcomes, patient feedback, service evaluation, and innovation. You will also contribute to local health and safety monitoring through service audits.

Benefits

A wide range of staff benefits are available to our staff including staff development, enrolment in the NHS pension scheme, auto‑enrolment to our Temporary Workforce Service, access to onsite nurseries, staff restaurants and accommodation. In addition to an internal Occupational Health department, all staff also have access to free psychological support through our confidential Employee Assistance Programme. Onsite parking is available from only £50 a year.

Statement on the Use of AI

We value the individuality that each candidate brings to the application process. While we understand that AI tools are widely available, we strongly discourage applicants from using AI‑generated content when applying for jobs with us. We believe that your application should reflect your true skills, experiences, and motivations, which are best conveyed through your own words and unique perspective. Using AI for your application may not accurately represent your knowledge, skills, and experience and may result in a disconnect between your qualifications and our assessment of your application. We encourage applicants to take the time to thoughtfully complete their applications; by doing so, you allow us to better understand your true potential and ensure a fair and transparent evaluation of your application. Over reliance on AI‑generated content may diminish your chance of success.

Aims
  • Safe
  • Effective
  • Caring
  • Responsive
  • Well‑led
Role Development

You will receive structured supervision to achieve required competencies through work‑based learning and education. Alongside this, you will complete a fully funded two‑year qualification. Working with the Trust Education Department, course providers, and physiotherapy supervisors, you will progress from a Band 3 Physiotherapy Assistant on a Trust Apprenticeship contract (Level 5) toward Band 4 competencies. Successful completion of the foundation degree and competencies will enable transition to a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner role.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal applicant will hold an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent), GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above, the Care Certificate, and 2 years’ Band 3 clinical experience. Flexibility, independent travel and strong communication and IT skills are essential.
