Ideally you will live close to our wastewater site in Lower Brighouse. Could this be you?

These are permanent opportunities, working 40 hours per week with rotational work patterns on a 4 on 4 off basis, which may include late, early and weekend work patterns. You will need a full valid driving licence in addition to a LGV category C and ideally a DCPC qualification (no more than 6 points).

What we do!

Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year, can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it’s so much more than this.

We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity.

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. Customer Field Services are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

Where you fit in!
As our Waste Resolution Jetting Technician, you will:

Part of a two‑person team working within a geographical team to improve customer service and sewer system performance. You will be responsible for ensuring a first‑time fix solution for customers and the environment whilst ensuring quality follow‑on work is raised in accordance with our standards and specifications.

Delivering a first‑time fix / same‑day solution to customer and environmental problems and to deliver the asset plan for sewer maintenance to eliminate escapes. You will ensure Health & Safety working practices and procedures are always complied with.

The Waste Resolution Jetting Technician will be primarily responding to Internal Flooding and Restricted Toilet Use (RTU) customer problems to resolve the immediate cause and to complete a thorough investigation to resolve the root cause and achieve a first‑time fix / same‑day solution. This will include the use of IT systems to collate information and relay accurate feedback including plans and photographs.

The Waste Resolution Jetting Technician will safely, proactively, and reactively maintain the sewers to promote and implement solutions which resolve and/or prevent a sewage escape (flooding and pollution) from occurring from the sewers and to ensure no repeats take place.

You will work closely with other Yorkshire Water teams and our contracted partners on site to resolve and manage operational issues on the sewer network.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

You will need a full valid driving licence in addition to a LGV category C, ideally with DCPC driving licence and digi card (No more than 6 points).

You will be operating a high‑pressured jetting and vacuumation vehicle and carrying out a range of manual handling duties including heavy lifting of manhole covers and operating heavy equipment involving high pressure water jetting systems and sewer cameras. Therefore, a strong health & safety background and be competent in the use of IT systems and the ability to be pro‑active and take ownership of issues is an essential requirement for this role.

Previous experience in a customer service‑related role with face‑to‑face communication with customers is essential.

You will have the ability to think through problems and work with others to solve them, finding faults and diagnosing the root cause of an issue.

Excellent communication skills are essential as you will need to capture, evidence and feedback information. You will also need to be able to influence outcomes and make decisions.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable liaising with operational teams, customers, and stakeholders.

As part of this role, you will be required to work within confined spaces, and any successful candidate must pass strict medical criteria including BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, and Spirometry tests to ensure your full safety when working in hazardous environments.

You will have a flexible attitude to your work as you will be working a variety of rotas in the role to cover our working window.

It would be ideal to have previous jet van operation experience or experience driving liquid loads and a basic understanding of the sewer network although full training will be provided. This includes high pressure jetting training, confined space & NRASWA.

Although we operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it’s important to us that we support flexible working patterns and job share options (when we can), to help you make the best of both your work and home life. We know that juggling childcare responsibilities or getting that ideal work/life balance isn’t always easy!

Do we sound like your cup of tea?

If you hold a Cat C Licence and are customer focused, with a good H&S background and want to help us deliver great service for our customers whilst looking after the environment, then be sure to apply today to find out what a career with Yorkshire Water can offer you.
