We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Antenatal and Newborn Screening Failsafe Officer to join our Women and Child Health Group. This key role supports the safe and effective delivery of all National Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) Screening Programmes, helping to ensure every patient receives timely and appropriate screening in line with national standards.

As a vital member of the screening team, you will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring complex failsafe systems and databases, tracking results, and escalating any potential breaches or safety concerns. You will work closely with midwives, screening coordinators, and external partners to ensure compliance with national screening requirements and to promote high-quality, patient-centred care.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong IT, organisational and communication skills who is passionate about improving maternity outcomes and supporting safe screening pathways. You will play an important role in safeguarding birthing people and babies while contributing to the Trust's commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on all Antenatal and Newborn Screening (ANNB) failsafe systems, ensuring that all screening tests are tracked, followed up and reported in line with national standards.

Support the delivery of multiple screening programmes.

Monitor and review any potential screening breaches or delays, escalating issues promptly to the Screening Leads or Coordinators to safeguard patient safety.

Provide accurate and timely data for key performance indicators (KPIs), audits and national reporting requirements.

Liaise with midwives, screening teams, laboratories, and external organisations suchto ensure the smooth flow of screening information and results.

Support the investigation of screening-related incidents and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Provide training and guidance to new staff and system users on screening databases and failsafe processes.

Ensure compliance with Data Protection, Information Governance, and Infection Control policies at all times.

Act as a key contact for queries relating to ANNB screening failsafe systems, helping to ensure an effective, safe, and high-quality screening service.

The Antenatal and Newborn Screening Failsafe Officer plays a key role in supporting the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of all National Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) Screening Programmes across the Trust. The post holder will ensure that all screening processes are accurately tracked, results are followed up, and potential breaches are proactively identified and escalated to safeguard birthing people and babies.

Working within the Women and Child Health Group, the post holder will provide administrative, data management, and governance support to the screening teams, ensuring that all activity meets national screening standards, NHS England and UKHSA requirements, and Trust policies.

• Excel Literate
• GCSE Level Maths and English
