My Client is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Water Sector.

They are looking to strengthen their engineering team with a Senior Mechanical Engineer based out of Bristol or Exeter offices, with hybrid working available.

You will report directly to the Principal Engineer or Regional Discipline Lead. Your role will be to provide high-quality Engineering Design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, considering health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards related to the contract.

• Producing cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and can be effectively constructed and commissioned. The 'cost' encompasses all associated costs including design, materials, erection, and impacts on other disciplines.
• Utilizing standard practices whenever possible to maintain competitiveness, providing estimates and feedback for proposals.
• Following procedures and processes to ensure departmental development.
• Assisting in developing, monitoring, and reviewing procedures and processes.
• Writing and updating procedures to ensure departmental efficiency.
• Coordinating designs with all disciplines, internal and external, to benefit the overall contract.
• Maintaining files and records throughout contract durations.
• Ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Fostering a culture where customer satisfaction is key to achieving objectives, considering all beneficiaries of our processes.
• Supervising and developing staff.
• Ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
• Minimizing waste across departmental activities.
• Considering environmental issues in designs.
• Ensuring designs comply with health and safety requirements.

• Significant experience in delivering process plant systems on complex water industry projects.
• Understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
• Experience managing or mentoring staff in designing water and sewage treatment plants.
• Membership of a professional institution, chartered or nearing chartership.
• Relevant engineering degree (preferred).
• Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical plant layouts.
• Good knowledge of water treatment aspects, including mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
• Flexible mindset with the ability to handle large amounts of data.
• Ability to present technical proposals clearly and confidently.
