We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Senior Mechanical Engineer based out of Bristol or Exeter offices, with hybrid working available.
You will report directly to the Principal Engineer or Regional Discipline Lead, and your role will be to provide superior quality engineering design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, taking into account health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards relevant to the contract.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Producing cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and are feasible for construction and commissioning. Consider all costs associated with design, construction, and the impact on other disciplines.
- Utilizing standard practices where possible, maintaining competitiveness, and providing estimates and feedback to the proposals department.
- Following procedures and processes to ensure departmental development, and assisting in developing and reviewing these procedures.
- Coordinating designs with all disciplines, internal and external, to ensure integrated contract execution.
- Maintaining files and records throughout contract durations.
- Ensuring customer satisfaction by delivering quality work and fostering a customer-centric culture.
- Maintaining a personal development plan and assisting in supervising and developing staff.
- Ensuring a safe working environment and minimizing waste in departmental activities.
- Considering environmental issues and health and safety requirements in all designs.
Essential requirements:
- Significant experience in delivering process plant systems on complex water industry projects.
- Understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
- Experience in managing and mentoring staff in relevant disciplines.
- Membership of a professional institution, chartered or nearing chartership.
Preferable qualifications:
- Relevant discipline engineering degree.
Minimum requirements:
- Relevant discipline engineering HND.
- Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical plant layouts.
- Good knowledge of water treatment aspects, including mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
- Flexible mindset and ability to process large amounts of data.
- Ability to present technical proposals clearly and convincingly.
- Computer literacy and a driving license.
Desirable qualifications:
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
- Relevant Master's Degree in Engineering.
- Experience with digital design in design and construct projects.
