Candidates are expected to have full GMC registration and an MD or PhD. This role offers a competitive environment for research and teaching, emphasizing high standards of patient care.
Clinical Research Fellow ST3+ at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The closing date is 08 October 2025.
This is a 12-month appointment in the first instance, with renewal conditional on evidence of satisfactory academic progression and clinical competency. For NTN trainees wishing to apply, the post has been recognised by the east Midlands Training rotation for an Out of Programme (Research) placement as part of NTN training. Applicants holding a NTN should contact their local Training Programme Director for prospective approval prior to application.
Candidates will work as Clinical Research Fellows. They will work cooperatively with colleagues in similar roles to provide 1FTE at registrar/clinical fellow level as part of the adult cardiac surgery service (on call rota currently 1 in 6), with the remaining time allocated to research. Research time will be spent working with the Leicester Cardiac Surgery Research group based at the University of Leicester and led by Professor Gavin Murphy, British Heart Foundation Chair of Cardiac Surgery.
The candidate will be expected to undertake high quality research and will be encouraged to dedicate their time to a specific research project as part of the multidisciplinary team.
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals:
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
