Overview

We are looking for a Senior Assistant Technical Officer to join our friendly, forward thinking Pharmacy Team.

The Pharmacy Department has exciting development opportunities for enthusiastic individuals to join our expanding team of Pharmacy Assistants. If you wish to be part of a dynamic and innovative Pharmacy team, and start or continue a career in Pharmacy, join us as a Band 3 Dispensing Assistant. We are an innovative forward thinking department entering an exciting new phase. A series of in-house developments are underway, giving the opportunity for successful candidates to be involved in dynamic projects which offer professional progression.

You will have a friendly and approachable personality, be willing to work as part of a team and committed to providing the best possible service for patients.

You will need to be self-motivated with good communication & interpersonal skills. To qualify for this position, you will require NVQ L2 in pharmacy services or equivalent and good IT skills.

This is a full-time post and the post holder will be required to work weekends and Bank Holidays as part of a rota.

Main duties of the job
  • 4 months rotation in each of the following rotations: Dispensary Services and Distribution/Stores. Work closely with section heads to assist in the safe, efficient running of each section including audits and quality improvement projects to ensure high and effective standards. This is a supervisory role where training and mentoring of Apprentice Technical Officers is required.
  • Accurate dispensing of prescriptions, covering the Pharmacy hatch and interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Pharmacy audits and training & supervision of apprentices.
  • Carrying out daily stock checks in the hospital\'s out-of-hours drugs room using the Pharmacy robotic cabinet.
  • Assisting in the sorting and checking of all returned pharmaceuticals prior to recycling or disposal.
  • Ward top up and the supply of medicines to wards and clinical areas.
  • Processing ward/department stock requests in accordance with GDP.
  • Processing community orders to offsite clinics.
  • Receipting of Pharmacy orders.
  • General housekeeping such as filing, replenishing sundries, loading the Pharmacy robot.
