A leading health organization in North Wales is seeking experienced mental health practitioners to join their crisis team supporting children and young people. Responsibilities include rapid assessments and evidence-based interventions in multi-disciplinary settings. Applicants must have relevant qualifications and experience in mental health, with a commitment to professional development and working flexibly across a 24/7 service model.
There has never been a better time to join our established and skilled team within CAMHS. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the further growth and development of crisis care provision for the children and young people across North Wales. These newly developed posts, based within the beautiful area of Conwy & Denbighshire in our newly developed Central Hub, will provide caring clinicians with flexibility, autonomy and professional growth and development.
As part of our transformation and development of Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, we are strengthening our leadership, pathways and services to provide a rapid, robust and extended multi‑agency crisis response that includes prompt assessment, liaison, consultation, training and where appropriate intensive time‑limited interventions for children and young people up to the age of 18, who are experiencing an acute mental health and/or psycho‑social crisis.
We are looking to recruit several experienced, registered practitioners and welcome applications from applicants who have not worked in CAMHS but have transferable skills relevant to the role. We would welcome skills and experience in working with young people and families with complex difficulties, experience in completing mental health assessments and risk management.
The post holder will undertake assessments in A+E, acute wards & other community settings to support rapid crisis response in least restrictive ways, but also consistent with identified needs, to ensure Young People's & others' safety.
You will provide clinical formulation, identifying the young person's & family's needs, offer liaison, consultation & intervention to facilitate safe discharge & care planning across partner agencies. There is a requirement to work flexibly across North Wales, as the service develops to a 24‑hr provision.
The post holder will be a part of a multi‑disciplinary Regional crisis service, working with young people experiencing mental health crisis, whereby hospital admission is a strong possibility, but can be safely supported within the community.
The post holder will provide urgent assessment & brief, evidence‑based intervention to children & young people with mental health problems & significant mental health disorders; support parents, carers & front‑line professionals in understanding & supporting the young person through providing education & advice on how to manage the condition.
Using a team approach, the post holder will work flexibly across the Region (including out of hours), intensively, creatively & responsively to clients' needs. The post holder will also ensure good links with others within the CAMHS area & other relevant agencies.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
