SEN PE Teacher
Location: Leyland, Nr Preston, Lancashire
Salary: M1 – M6 dependent on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week
Teaching Personnel have a fantastic opportunity to work with a SEN school based in Leyland. The school supports young people aged 9-16 who face various challenges associated with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
The Role:
To deliver high-quality KS2 Teaching with Physical Education as a specialism in classes no bigger than 8 students.
Key Responsibilities:
- To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the class and assist in other relevant aspects of the day-to-day running of the school.
- To assess, record, and report pupils’ progress according to the school’s policy in order to monitor and foster pupils’ progress in all areas of learning.
- To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
- To lead support and supervision sessions for Assistant Teachers and Higher Level Teaching Assistants including Professional Development Reviews.
- To attend and contribute to teachers’ meetings, multi-disciplinary meetings, and any other relevant staff meetings.
- To ensure a high standard of personal care for the pupils, carefully monitoring the health and well-being of pupils, informing the care staff, medical staff, behaviour support team, and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.
Qualifications and Experience:
- PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
- We encourage applications from qualified teachers both from primary and secondary backgrounds.
- Working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND.
- Knowledge, understanding, and experience of autism and associated co-morbid conditions and how these can affect learning.
- Curriculum development and implementation for pupils with SEND.
- Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
