At Syngenta, our goal is to build the most collaborative and trustworthy team in agriculture, providing top‑quality seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmers’ success.

Syngenta’s Dietary Risk Assessment team is seeking a Dietary Safety Assessor based in Jealott’s Hill. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the safety and regulatory compliance of our crop protection products across the European market, directly contributing to the success of farmers and the sustainability of agriculture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead dietary risk assessment projects for the Europe team, delivering timely safety inputs that drive European and global business objectives.
  • Prepare and critically review dietary safety sections of regulatory dossiers for EU plant protection product registrations, renewals, and lifecycle management.
  • Develop innovative solutions and strategies to address complex cross‑functional challenges and champion science‑based regulatory positions.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that advance the Europe Human Safety Team’s objectives and shape the team’s strategic direction.
  • Communicate scientific outcomes and regulatory positions to internal stakeholders and external audiences at industry forums and regulatory meetings.
Strategic Contribution & Communication:

  • Represent Syngenta at regulatory forums and build productive relationships with EU authorities (competent authorities, EFSA, European Commission).
  • Stay at the forefront of EU regulations (Reg 1107/2009, EFSA guidance), scientific developments, and emerging issues in dietary risk assessment and human safety.
  • Build team capability through training, mentoring, evaluation of evolving regulatory guidance, and implementation of best practices.
  • Actively participate in industry task forces, working groups, and scientific initiatives.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
  • BSc, MSc, or Ph.D. in toxicology, food science, chemistry, biology, or related life science discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in consumer/human safety assessment, preferably within the agrochemical, pharmaceutical, or food safety sectors.
Technical Excellence:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of EU regulatory frameworks and dietary risk assessment methodologies for plant protection products.
  • Strong scientific writing skills with expertise in critical data interpretation and risk assessment of chemical substances.
  • Deep understanding of EU regulations (Reg 1107/2009, EFSA guidance) and ability to stay current with evolving scientific developments.
  • Experience representing organizations in regulatory forums and engaging with EU authorities (competent authorities, EFSA, European Commission).
Core Competencies:
  • Communication Excellence: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Leadership Impact: Track record of leading cross‑functional teams, influencing stakeholders at all levels, and developing junior scientists.
  • Strategic Innovation: Demonstrated ability to think strategically, develop creative solutions, and navigate complex problems in dynamic regulatory environments.

What we offer
  • Extensive benefits package including a generous pension scheme, bonus scheme, private medical & life insurance.
  • Up to 31.5 days annual holiday.
  • We offer a position which contributes to valuable and impactful work in a stimulating and international environment.
  • A vibrant growth and learning culture with a wide range of formal and informal training opportunities, a self‑paced learning platform, onsite lectures and seminars, as well as mentoring in technical skills and professional competencies.
