Job Description

Your team: Our Finance team has a large part to play in the success of our business. We are based across a few locations, but operate as one team, and work together to create a positive, productive and highly efficient finance department within News UK.

Your role:

The Head of Finance - Broadcasting (Revenue & Margin) is a critical leadership role within the Finance team, responsible for driving financial oversight and revenue growth across broadcasting operations. This role is focused on delivering top line growth, maximising current revenue streams, whilst identifying and delivering new revenue initiatives, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and reporting. Additionally, the role will assist with ad hoc projects and initiatives, such as the financial evaluation of new programming or operational strategies i.e. CTV, to support the overall growth and efficiency of the broadcasting division.

Day to day you will:
  • Provide broadcasting management performance (across Commercial, Programming, Marketing, Tech) and the execs with financial and commercial support to continuously improve investment decision making.
  • Challenge and influence management to ensure optimised return on investment.
  • Review of business cases for new investments, including ensuring all project deliveries remain within budget and on schedule, with appropriate escalation of business risks.
  • Financial appraisal of strategic investment proposals.
  • Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly reporting.
  • Review and present weekly broadcasting results (with deep understanding of key revenue drivers and growth initiatives).
  • Prepare and review quarterly conference call deck and board presentations.
  • Oversight of the preparation of financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring true and fair representation of business performance.
  • Present financial analyses and reports to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Budgeting and quarterly forecasting.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasts, incorporating scenario analyses to inform strategic decision‑making and resource allocation.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and recommending corrective measures.
  • Performance reporting and measurement.
  • Implement and optimise reporting tools and dashboards to provide real‑time insights into financial performance and key metrics for revenue growth.
What we’re looking for from you:
  • Qualified accountant with significant post‑qualified experience.
  • Commercially aware with strong accounting skills.
  • Experience in leading a team and driving change.
  • Confident and calm under pressure, organised with strong time management.
  • Clear communication style with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders.
  • Able to work as part of a team and able to use your own initiative to solve problems.
  • An effective challenger, always looking for better ways of doing things.
