The London Borough of Islington is seeking an Estate Services Coordinator (PO1) to join the Homes & Neighbourhoods directorate within Facilities and Environmental Services. This temporary role will provide vacancy cover and ensure estates are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, security, and appearance., Lead and manage a team of caretakers, ensuring high-quality, safe, and responsive services across estates.
Responsibilities
Monitor and take corrective action on estate management functions including waste and recycling, grounds maintenance, communal repairs, and estate lighting.
Conduct regular inspections of communal areas, ensuring compliance with health and safety, fire safety, and service standards.
Respond to resident feedback, complaints, and enquiries with clear, accurate communication.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, caretaker storage, equipment, and PPE supplies.
Collaborate with other council teams and partner agencies to resolve complex issues, including antisocial behaviour.
Attend evening meetings and provide weekend supervision on a rota basis (approximately one weekend in eight).
Support Tenant Management Organisations, Residents Associations, and leaseholder groups, ensuring responsibilities are met and estate standards maintained.
Contribute to service improvements, policy development, and estate enhancement projects.
Qualifications

Proven ability to lead and manage a team, including training, performance, and conduct management.
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and practice (NEBOSH/IOSH desirable).
Experience in estate services including cleaning, repairs, refuse, and grounds maintenance.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience liaising with residents, councillors, MPs, and external agencies.
Flexible, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure to meet performance targets.
Physically able to carry out inspections across estates, including stair climbing and long-distance walking.
Willingness to attend evening meetings and provide weekend/out-of-hours cover as required.
