Job summary
A leading consulting firm in the UK seeks an experienced Android Developer to work onsite in Romsey. This 6-month contract role requires SC clearance and involves feature development, user support, and contributing to a significant new product capability. Ideal candidates will have strong experience in Android app development, Java, and Python. Interested applicants should apply promptly due to security clearance timelines.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Android app architecture, particularly the activity life cycle.
- Experience with Android Camera/camera2/CameraX API.
- Proficient in Java and Python/Flask.
Responsibilities
- Feature development for new Android functionalities.
- Provide support to existing users of the application.
- Contribute to implementation of Edge Analytics Proof‑of‑Concept.
Skills
Our client is looking for an Android Developer to work onsite at their office in either Woking or Romsey, on a 6‑month initial contract. This role is inside IR35 and requires a candidate to hold active SC clearance. The role will entail supporting existing users, sustaining the product, and contributing to the development of significant new product capability. The role will include taking ownership of new feature development and contributing to shaping end‑user requirements into actionable development activities.
- Feature development
- Providing support to existing users

- Updates to automated testing infrastructure
- Debugging and reliability improvements
- Performance analysis of Android devices
- Contribute to client visits and demos
- Android app development (Android Studio/Gradle)
- Experience using the Android Camera/camera2/CameraX API
- Strong understanding of Android app architecture, particularly the activity life cycle

- Interest in AI & ML Edge Processing
