As a core member of the site leadership team, the Site Engineering Manager will drive continuous performance improvement in collaboration with all functions to enhance site performance. The role involves overseeing the maintenance of a large FMCG site, including electrical, mechanical, civil, and automation activities, as well as wastewater treatment operations. The focus will be on energy and process optimization, reliability, and adherence to quality and safety standards.

This is a full-time, permanent position. Monday-Friday days, with weekend cover 1 in every 5 weeks with occasional site call outs and attendance to meetings offsite. The Site Engineering Manager will report directly to the Plant Manager.

Key responsibilities
  • Development of the site’s engineering strategy aligned with business strategy defining and integrating best in class structure and ways of working.
  • Implementation of the global asset management program to cover process equipment, services and infrastructure working to select and standardize equipment, technology, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Budget management and implementation of capital projects inclusive of process, NPI, service and infrastructure projects utilizing tools and processes to ensure project success.
  • Management of engineering stores through strategic plans and KPI’s with emphasis on cost and inventory reduction and database accuracy while implementing continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for the engineering team’s recruitment, training, performance management and development program with future succession planning as a focus.
  • Management and control of contractors in compliance with group and site safety procedures.

Compliance with regulatory, environmental, customer and insurance requirements with participation in audits and ensuring non-conformances have been addressed.

Acting as a substitute for another functional manager when necessary.

Qualifications and skills
  • Education: Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automation Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in an industrial setting, preferably in FMCG, with solid knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Technical IT competences: Proficiency in MS Office, maintenance management software, and automation systems.
  • Professional skills: Proven problem-solving abilities, experience in automation, documentation, leadership, and budget management.
  • Personal attributes: Driven, innovative, organized, with the ability to work cross-functionally with manufacturing teams and various stakeholders.
