Infinity employment is seeking an Engineering Manager for a trusted supplier of power supplies, standby solutions, and associated electronics for security and related applications. With an outstanding reputation for innovation, liability, and compliance. They deliver products that protect lives and assets around the world. Our client is now seeking an engineering manager to lead their technical team and continue driving innovation, quality, and compliance across all product lines.

Salary £70,000 per year

  • Leading the design and development of new products (electronics, mechanical, and system integration).
  • Managing the release to manufacturing process, ensuring smooth transition from concept to production.
  • Overseeing product compliance, testing, and qualification in line with international standards.
  • Providing technical support to suppliers (including those in China) and customers worldwide.
  • Coaching, developing, and managing a multidisciplinary team of 6 engineers and technicians.
  • Driving continuous improvement in engineering processes, product lifecycle management, and cost optimisation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the engineering team, ensuring high performance and collaboration.
  • Define and deliver the product roadmap, aligned to business strategy.
  • Ensure all products comply with relevant industry regulations (CE, UKCA, UL, EMC, safety, etc.).
  • Budget and resource management.
  • Manage prototype builds, validation, and pre‑compliance testing.
  • Act as technical liaison between internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks in product development.
  • Foster innovation while ensuring practical, cost‑effective execution.
  • Manage engineering budgets, resources, and priorities effectively.
Skill set required:
  • A degree in Electronics, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or related field (Chartered Engineer status desirable).
  • Min. of 5 years' experience within an engineering product development role.
  • Proven leadership experience in electronics product design and development with a minimum of 5 years in an engineering management role.
  • Strong understanding of compliance testing and product certification.
  • Track record of managing multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to balance innovation and execution.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including cross‑cultural collaboration (e.g., with suppliers in Asia).
  • Experience in fire, security, or safety‑critical industries would be advantageous.
