Job Title: Engineering Manager

Role Purpose:

Ensuring that the Maritime Ranges sites and facilities are safe, fit for use and available.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Setting out and monitoring the competency/development programme to competent range technicians for all the Maritime Ranges facilities – 15 persons
  • Delivery management of the Maritime Ranges Engineering leads – 5 persons
  • Ensuring all Maritime Ranges facilities are managed in accordance with their Through Life Support Strategy (TLSS) and maintenance schedule by competent staff, and that all defects are managed to conclusion
  • Key input to the investment projects delivering into Maritime Ranges –stakeholder/Customer, and acts to influence and accept at each stage
  • Lead the replacement of equipment for obsolescence whilst innovating to deliver efficiency and enhancement
  • Input to and drive forward Maritime Ranges strategy
Key Capabilities/Knowledge:
  • Communication skills utilising a variety of methods appropriate to the audience and situation
  • Collaborative team working
  • Strong engineering and technical knowledge
  • Good understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality arrangements
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation, standards and guidance
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with people at all levels, both internal and external
  • Methodical and Logical approach
  • Good level of IT competence
Experience & Qualifications:
  • General engineering and operations background: Technical/engineering background is essential
  • Demonstrable track record of successful engineering management
  • Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) is desirable
  • NEBOSH / IOSH Managing safely is desirable
  • Experience of process/continuous improvement activities
