Job description

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

Company Description

Genomics England partners with the NHS to provide whole genome sequencing diagnostics. We also equip researchers to find the causes of disease and develop new treatments - with patients and participants at the heart of it all.

Our mission is to continue refining, scaling, and evolving our ability to enable others to deliver genomic healthcare and conduct genomic research.

We are accelerating our impact and working with patients, doctors, scientists, government and industry to improve genomic testing, and help researchers access the health data and technology they need to make new medical discoveries and create more effective, targeted medicines for everybody.

Job Description

We excited to be hiring for 3 Mobilisation and Operation Managers that will play a key part in the implementation and delivery of our Newborns Programme research study across several NHS Trusts.

As a Mobilisation and Operation Manager you will support the recruitment of site selection and set-up, readiness monitoring and study coordination whilst establishing new relationships with the NHS trusts and collaborating with the Newborns Programme Team, the Strategic Implementation Steering Group and other key stakeholders, helping to implement our mobilisation plan for the research study.

Please note these roles are Fixed Term Contracts until March 2025.

Everyday responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with key roles in the Genomics Medicine Service Alliances and Genomic Laboratory Hubs to identify and set up NHS Trust sites for the study and ensure smooth handover processes.
  • Supporting protocol amendments, research and development (R&D) submissions, and study documentation planning, particularly by involving input from recruitment sites.
  • Establishing relationships with key stakeholders such as midwives, nurses, clinicians, research teams, and data managers to gain their support and ensure their expertise informs the research study.
  • Serving as a primary point of contact for staff at local sites, maintaining contact databases, issuing regular communications, and coordinating meetings.
  • Managing readiness frameworks and reporting on individual site setup, providing direct support to ensure timely initiation and recruitment according to targets.
  • Supporting local implementation of various workstreams, including staff education and training, site initiation packs, consent procedures, sample taking and tracking, ordering of supplies and logistics, processing quotes and invoices, performance monitoring, and issue resolution, as well as results and follow-on care pathways.
  • Assisting the in-house legal and ethics teams in completing costings, contracts, and other required agreements with chosen sites and partners, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained.
  • Attending regular meetings with sites to review program delivery in the local context, identify constraints, and propose changes to standard operating procedures (SOPs) or program materials as needed.

Skills and Experience for Success:

  • Genuine passion and interest in healthcare.
  • Experience in either academia or industry delivering related health study professional programs.
  • Strong focus on program delivery with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and dedicated to the program's success.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a focus on collaboration and stakeholder management.

Please note the closing date for applications will be Thursday 29th June at 5.30pm. Please express your interest by applying with a CV and brief cover note and our Talent Acquisition team will review your application and contact you by or after the closing date.

Qualifications

A relevant degree and/or experience is desirable.

As part of our recruitment process, all successful candidates are subject to a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. We therefore require applicants to disclose any previous offences at point of application, as some unspent convictions may mean we are unable to proceed with your application due to the nature of our work in healthcare.

Genomics England operates a blended working model as we know our people appreciate the flexibility. We expect most people to come into the office 2 times each month as a minimum. However, this will vary according to role and will be agreed with your team leader. For some people this is 1 day a quarter, for others it is several days a week. There is no expectation that staff will return to the office full time unless they want to. The exception would be some of our roles that would require you to be on site full time e.g., lab teams, reception team.

Our teams and squads have, and will continue to, reflect on what works best for them to work together successfully and have the freedom to design working patterns to suit, beyond the minimum. Our office locations are Canary Wharf, Cambridge and Leeds.
