A renowned law firm in West Yorkshire is seeking a dedicated Criminal Duty Solicitor to join their expanding Crime Team. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year’s PQE in criminal matters and a strong interest in publicly funded legal work. In this role, you will provide representation to clients detained in police stations and manage a varied caseload spanning the full spectrum of criminal offences. You will conduct advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court including summary trials and may appear in the Crown Court where Higher Rights are held. You will play a vital role in delivering consistently high quality representation to all clients while contributing to a positive, supportive and collaborative team environment.
The ideal candidate will be a Solicitor with at least 1 year’s PQE in criminal matters and a strong interest in publicly funded legal work. Crime duty accreditation is preferred but not essential and successful applicants without accreditation will be supported to achieve it. You will bring excellent communication and advocacy skills, strong IT proficiency and confidence in using case management systems. A pragmatic, professional and positive approach is essential, along with the ability to manage a demanding caseload with minimal supervision. You will have strong attention to detail, the ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure, as well as the interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
