Job summary

A leading blockchain analysis company in the UK seeks an Investigator to conduct and support complex cryptocurrency investigations. You'll collaborate with various teams to provide analytical support, research data, and prepare detailed reports. Ideal candidates will have significant experience in cryptocurrency investigations, strong communication skills, and fluency in English. Job Title: Investigator

Location: UK

The team of investigators at Chainalysis are world-class problem solvers, adept at conducting complex cryptocurrency investigations. We help our customers with the biggest and most complex investigations and along the way, make the world a safer place.

Investigators are equal parts technical knowledge, tenacity, and intuition. As a Chainalysis Investigator you will measure your success by your impact on our customers’ mission and the execution and expansion of investigation support at our key customers.

In this role, you’ll:
  • Collaborate with team members and across Chainalysis to support complex cryptocurrency investigations.
  • Provide investigative/analytic support for extremely complex, technical, and highly sensitive investigations and initiatives pertaining to financial crimes, including cryptocurrencies.
  • Become a sought-after and trusted advisor to investigators, analysts, and leadership within your assigned account and provide training and guidance to other investigators and analysts.
  • Conduct research and data analysis, author reports of your investigative findings, and present those findings to team members and customers.
  • Review the adequacy and completeness of investigations and the data collection methods to determine the authenticity, veracity, and pertinence of that data resulting in more thorough investigations or analytic assessments.
  • Prepare in-depth summaries of data from extensive research and analysis to set forth recommendations for investigations, lead follow up, and potential risks that could hamper an investigation
  • Evangelize the Chainalysis mission of bringing trust to blockchains, becoming an expert at using our tools and data to develop insights on illicit activity trends in crypto and its impact on our customers.
We’re looking for candidates who have:
  • Extensive experience in a range of cryptocurrency investigations, covering both UTXO and Account Based blockchains.
  • Insatiable curiosity about cryptocurrencies and the growing market.
  • An ability to communicate and explain complex cryptocurrency concepts to both beginner and advanced customers.
  • Proficient in report writing skills/Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize information into clear, concise and comprehensive reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in presenting data and findings.
  • Proven expertise in investigative or analytical experience, preferably at a law enforcement or government agency.
  • In-depth understanding of the cyber threat landscape (ransomware actors/groups, AML/Fraud enablers, techniques, capabilities)
  • Fluent in English (both written and verbal)
Nice to have experience:
  • Prior investigations experience working in UK Government and/or Law Enforcement agencies
  • Experience with Chainalysis products and data
  • Programming/Data Science Skills (SQL, Python, database analysis)
