Job summary
A leading law firm in the UK is seeking a tax professional to join its Birmingham office. In this role, you will work on corporate tax matters, employee share incentives, and real estate tax issues. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing legal support on tax matters for a variety of clients, ensuring compliance and delivering high-quality advice. This position offers flexibility in location across several offices.
Qualifications
- Experience in corporate tax, including legal support on share and asset transactions.
- Knowledge of employee share incentives and employment tax.
- Understanding of real estate tax compliance and SDLT.
- Ability to provide technical advice on various tax issues.
Responsibilities
- Support on share and asset sales and purchases for corporate tax.
- Draft legal documentation related to employee share incentives.
- Advise on real estate tax issues and VAT compliance.
- Assist with any arising tax issues, ensuring high standards.
Skills
We are flexible on location, this role can be based from our Manchester, Nottingham or Birmingham office.
Our Tax & Share Incentives team is recognised in Chambers and Legal 500, and currently comprises of a team of nine, including two Partners. The Tax & Share Incentives team is based in our Birmingham and Nottingham offices, although the team works with and provides support to other teams in all of our offices across the country (but doesn’t currently provide Irish tax advice to our Dublin office). The Tax team acts for a broad range of clients across the private, public and third sectors, with clients ranging from individuals to multi-national corporates and large public sector bodies.
The role will involve work in one or more of the following areas, depending on experience :
- Corporate tax, including tax legal support on share and asset sales and purchases
- Employee share incentives, and employment tax, including legal drafting and technical advice
- Advice on real estate tax issues, including SDLT (technical advice and compliance) and VAT
- Providing support and advice on various other tax issues as they arise, including stamp duty
- Providing advice on time and to a high standard of technical competence
