A leading research institution in Liverpool is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to advance a project on pathogen signalling. You will apply mass-spectrometry techniques to study host-pathogen interactions and work closely with experienced researchers. The position offers a fixed term contract until January 2029 and encourages applications from diverse backgrounds.
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to drive forward a three-year MRC funded project to mechanistically characterise the pathological signalling activities of secreted protein kinase of the opportunistic human bacterial pathogen, Legionella pneumophila.
Primarily, you will apply mass-spectrometry-based (phospho)proteomics and interactomics to decipher host-pathogen signalling networks in macrophage infection models. You will work in the laboratory of Dr Dominic Byrne, and in collaboration with Claire Eyers from the Centre of Proteomic Research (CPR).
You should have a PhD degree in Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Biological Sciences, Omics science, Microbiology or a related discipline and experience of applying mass spectrometry in human signalling studies.
If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
The post is available on a fixed term basis until January 2029.
