The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, a large integrated acute and community provider with over 14,000 staff, is seeking an Executive Chief Financial Officer. The role reports to the Chief Executive Officer and advises the Board on financial, contractual, commercial and performance matters. You will oversee finance, performance and procurement functions, manage resource allocation and lead the Trust’s strategic financial planning and capital programme.

You will craft financial plans and frameworks, provide performance management structure, support the CEO in maintaining strong working relationships with NHSE and local systems, manage the Trust’s Estates and Capital programme, oversee large‑scale projects, and appraise and manage charitable funds. You will act as a role model, exhibiting collaborative leadership behaviours and upholding our values of Compassion, Openness and Excellence.

• Current full membership of a CCAB body (ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS) or CIMA

• Evidence of managing all required areas – commercial, subsidiaries, estates, capital, procurement performance
• Experience of working within the acute/multi‑site provider sector

• Quantifiable metrics of past management (e.g., budget size, recovery targets, PFI scale, capital programme)
• Demonstrable evidence of and working in a leadership role at strategic level

• Ability to manage large‑scale budgets
• Demonstrable outcomes of previous roles
