A regional healthcare provider in Barrow-in-Furness is seeking a motivated Maintenance Assistant to join their Estates department. This role includes carrying out semi-skilled maintenance work, assisting trade staff, and ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff. Candidates should possess NVQ level 2 in maintenance and experience in property maintenance. The Estates department at Furness General Hospital is a group of highly skilled electrical and mechanical engineers, creative building craftsperson, and dedicated support staff. We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Maintenance Assistant to join us.
You should be experienced in general property maintenance, groundskeeping, and/or handyman duties. This is a highly rewarding role working under the relevant Estates Officer, the successful candidate will embark on a challenging adventure, safely, efficiently, and with patient and staff safety at the heart of their focus.
Working as part of a team and independently, you will be required to carry out semi‑skilled maintenance work within acute and community NHS properties. You will support and assist trade staff to undertake routine maintenance, fault‑finding/repair, and installation work to allow a safe and fit‑for‑purpose environment for patients, visitors and staff.
