A leading NHS Trust in Bury St Edmunds seeks a dedicated Locum Specialist Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The role requires full GMC registration and at least two years of experience in a maternity unit. The position offers an hourly pay rate of £55 during core hours and £70 for unsocial hours. We are looking for a passionate and committed Locum Specialist Registrar to join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Team at the West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Bury St Edmunds.
The post will be based at the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. It would be expected that the candidate should have completed a defined period of structured training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with documented evidence of progress to the equivalent level of ST3 or above.
Please note that we are unable to support sponsorship roles on Bank as we are not able to guarantee hours.
Hourly Pay
Core hours - 7.00 a.m. - 7.00 p.m. (Monday - Friday) - £55 ph
Unsocial hours -7.00 p.m. - 7.00 a.m. (including Bank Holidays and Weekends) - £70 ph
KEY TASKS:
Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of all obstetrics and gynaecology patients.
To share with colleagues responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department.
To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
This if for a Bank post to enable the Trust to maintain a full range of services within the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. All available shifts can be booked with the rota co-ord or can be selected via the Roster App.

MAIN CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
The hourly Bank rates are £55 for core hours and £70 for unsocial hours
The holder is required to maintain full registration with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise. Medical staff are advised to continue membership of one of the Medical Defence Organisations. You may not be allowed to work and will not be placed on the payroll until a member of the Human Resources Department has seen a copy of your current Certificate of Registration with the GMC.
This appointment is governed by the Terms and Conditions of Service for Hospital Medical and Dental Staff, subject to local conditions, as mentioned from time to time.
This post is exempt from the provisions of Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are therefore not entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are spent under the provision of the Act and in the event of employment, any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Employer. Any information given will be completely confidential and will be considered only in relation to an application for positions to which the Order applies.

In the course of your duties, you will have access to confidential material about patients, members of staff and other Health Service business. On no account must information relating to identifiable patients be divulged to anyone other than authorised persons, for example, medical, nursing or other professional staff, as appropriate, who are concerned directly with care, diagnosis and/or treatment of the patient. If there is any doubt whatsoever, as to the authority of a person or body asking for information of this nature, advice must be sought from a superior officer. Similarly, no information of a personal or confidential nature concerning individual members of staff should be divulged to anyone without the proper authority having first been given. Failure to observe these rules will be regarded as a serious misconduct, which could result in serious disciplinary action being taken including dismissal. This requirement is not intended to conflict with the principles on openness as laid out in EL (93)51.
The successful candidate will be required to attend for pre-employment health assessment. Offers of employment will not be confirmed until satisfactory health clearance has been obtained including satisfactory Hepatitis B status if applicable.
As an employee of an NHS trust you are expected to develop your IT skills necessary to support the tasks included in your post. You will, therefore, be required to undertake any necessary training to support this. This is to take account of the need for all staff to be able to use the information systems relevant to their post. Health and Safety It is the general duty of every employee to take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself/herself and others, including the use of necessary safety devices and protective clothing and to co-operate with management in meeting its responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act. Any failure to take such care or any contravention of safety policy or managerial instructions may result in disciplinary action being taken. The postholder is required to attend training sessions as required.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
