Skills
The French Academy DC MD VA, LLC is a small French school located in Alexandria (VA) and Washington DC. Our mission is to provide the very highest quality French language instruction in order to help people become better global citizens. We create a fun and friendly environment that immerses students in the language and culture, ensuring students learn French effectively and quickly. We offer private lessons, group classes for adults and children, as well as for corporations.
We are seeking a marketing / communication / Administration intern for 4-7 months in order to support our development in the DC area. Dates : 4 to 12 months from December 24 to December 25 (for example January to August 2025).

VISA J1 : The Visa J1 has some costs, check with Parenthèse : https://www.parenthese-paris.com/ The French Academy provides a monthly stipend covering the visa costs, other remuneration depending on the intern’s results.
The work schedule is flexible.
- The intern has a daily meeting (30 minutes to 1.5h) with the director in Alexandria VA.
- The intern can organize his / her work and hours independently, as long as it is possible for the Internship supervisor to be available at those times for questions and instructions, or if this is not necessary to be supervised for those tasks.
- Update and boost our social media websites : Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and blogs.
- Update our web site on web forums, classified, event sites etc.
- Update our list of contacts with new corporations, NGO, museums, or any potential partners / customers. - Assist with the organization of classes and the correspondence with students (registration, statistics, feedbacks) : standard response emails (daily).
- Assist with our classes : planning and setting of rooms, help with the schedule, class observation, preparation of materials.
- Assist with our event marketing (Meetups, French cuisine, book reading club, …) - Help us to better our communication with videos and pictures of our classes.
- Possibly create a survey in order to collect information on our corporate students. - Create a map of our competitors with information about their products and prices.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of various social media and marketing tools including Facebook, Instagram, X, Linkedin, YouTube, etc.
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills; ability to work well individually and / or in a team.
- Good written English, must be able to write class descriptions, and emails to contacts.
- A Self-starter and innovative thinker with a service-oriented and friendly personality.
- Must be organized with a strong attention to detail.
- Interested in education, some teaching experience is a plus.
- Excellent French skills (advanced or native).
