JOB TITLE

What will be your role?

The chargé(e) d’affaires is responsible for identifying, structuring, negotiating, processing, and managing financing in the form of loans within the private sector. They will also oversee the execution of projects in their portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Participating in project identification, instruction, and formalization: evaluating projects technically, economically, and financially; analyzing and securing all associated risks; coordinating and managing the project team (including a deputy chargé d’affaires, legal expert, E&S expert, sectoral expert) and external stakeholders (consultants, co-financiers if applicable).
2. Preparing support documents and presenting project files to decision-making bodies.
3. Negotiating, with legal support, the financial conditions and contractual terms.
4. Participating in the execution of mandates for coordination and arrangements with development financing institutions.
5. Monitoring project execution within the portfolio: managing fund disbursement processes in accordance with financing agreements; regularly tracking project progress and counterparty status through supervision missions, meetings, and FERs; handling amendments and waivers.
6. Contributing to sectoral capitalization and competitive intelligence in one or more sectors of the Agro-industry domain.

Who are we looking for?

• Master’s degree (Bac +5) from universities or grandes écoles.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in debt financing or strong knowledge of this environment.
• Proficiency in financial analysis/modeling and structuring debt financings.
• Familiarity with legal documentation and negotiation with clients.
• Excellent writing and synthesis skills.
• Autonomy, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to coordinate a project team.
• Fluent spoken and written English (working in an English-speaking environment); Spanish is a plus.
• Availability for international missions.

What team are you joining?

The MAS Division of PROPARCO supports companies in the Agro-industry, Industry, and Services sectors through loan financing. Part of the FNT department of Proparco, it comprises about 33 people, including 25 business officers. The Agro-industry activity team (10 members) covers the entire agricultural value chain across various sectors such as fruits and vegetables, sugar, flour, and livestock. The strategy focuses on economic development and food security; strengthening sustainability of value chains; and protecting natural capital.
