• You will provide legal advice, guidance and support to HSBC’s Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) business and specifically to the Global Trade Solutions (GTS) business, with a particular focus on matters arising in France and, when required, HSBC Continental Europe’s branches, including matters that may be complex or may have some impact;
• You will be considered a trusted adviser to the business by ensuring that commercially sensitive, pragmatic and practical legal support and advice is provided in a cost-effective manner to CIB and the GTS businesses;
• You will ensure senior management in Local CIB and Regional GTS Legal is fully briefed on major issues arising in relevant business area and major legislative changes in area of expertise;
• You will liaise with other risk functions with oversight over GTS;
• You will provide support and guidance to CIB and the GTS businesses regarding legal risks arising in jobholder’s area of expertise.

• Be able to adapt work style to meet complex and varied workloads;
• Be able to think independently and to prioritize workloads in terms of legal risk and commercial consideration;
• Deepen knowledge of areas of specialty;
• Maintain knowledge of HSBC Group operations and policies;
• Enhance relationship with higher levels of management inspiring confidence of customers / stakeholders;
• Work in coordination with other HSBC legal departments in France and around the world;
• Share legal knowledge and best practices with legal colleagues.

You should apply if you have :

• A qualification in French banking law;
• Good knowledge and experience of English finance and banking law and transactions;
• The ability to communicate and work in the English language (written and spoken) is essential;
• Trade finance expertise and transaction experience would be beneficial; and
• Good communication and inter-personal skills are expected.
