A leading energy infrastructure firm is seeking a Commissioning Technician - Mechanical for an onshore project in Basra, Iraq. The role requires expertise in mechanical systems, with responsibilities including commissioning equipment and supporting troubleshooting activities. Candidates must have a technical diploma and 3-5 years of relevant experience. This is a full-time position with a fixed-term contract for 7 months.

Qualifications

SPIE Global Service Energy is hiring a Commissioning Technician – Mechanical for an onshore project in Basra, Iraq.

This role is rotational - 28/28 days.

Job Description

Support commissioning and start-up activities related to mechanical systems on an onshore oil & gas project. Collaborate with the commissioning team to prepare, test, and hand over systems safely and on schedule.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist in commissioning mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and rotating equipment.
  • Follow commissioning procedures and supervisor instructions.
  • Perform alignment checks, pressure tests, and functional checks.
  • Report issues and support troubleshooting activities.
  • Record commissioning results and complete check sheets.
  • Adhere to HSE rules and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Support punch list activities and handover to operations.
Candidate Profile

Requirements:

  • Iraqi nationals from the Basra region.
  • Technical diploma or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in oil & gas mechanical maintenance or commissioning.
  • Knowledge of pumps, compressors, rotating equipment, and piping systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and manuals.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
