You are the technical leader your colleagues seek out when complex technical challenges arise. Whether it’s a difficult architectural decision, intricate performance tuning, or designing robust solutions for scalability, you consistently demonstrate exceptional judgment and technical depth. You take pride in creating scalable systems and hold yourself and your team accountable to an exceptionally high bar for correctness and reliability. You\'re pragmatic and understand the importance of balancing technical excellence with real-world business constraints.

You believe exceptional systems are built through teamwork, and you\'re passionate about building and mentoring an organization grounded in engineering best practices for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

As the Platform leader, you\'ll work closely with our CTO to define Vesta\'s long term technical strategy for supporting current and future business needs with respect to scalability, reliability, and performance. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining a high engineering security posture in a highly regulated environment, as well as providing customer-facing capabilities in the Vesta Public API.

• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent with a strong understanding of computer science fundamentals.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience building and operating highly scalable distributed systems and relational databases, with significant time spent directly optimizing system performance, reliability, and scalability.
• 3+ years of experience leading, mentoring, and growing platform or infrastructure engineering teams.
• Experience building complex B2B enterprise software.

Experience and expertise in many of the following:

• Building and scaling distributed system architectures
• C# / .NET platform / EF Core or similar strongly statically typed language (Java, Kotlin, Scala, etc.)
• Kubernetes
• PostgreSQL
• Kafka
• OpenSearch / ElasticSearch
• Redis / Valkey
• AWS

• Managing, coaching, and growing a team of platform and infrastructure engineers
• Define and execute on a platform roadmap for maintaining the scalability and reliability needs of Vesta
• Define and evangelize best practices and technical standards to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of other product engineering teams
• Lead forecasting and budgeting for ensuring proper capacity planning to support the business’ needs
• Own the security and compliance posture for all platform and infrastructure services, including audits, risk assessments, and regulatory requirements (e.g. SOC 2)
• Manage the development and maintenance of the Vesta Public API
• Being an advocate for engineering excellence

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $200,000 - $300,000/yr. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed.
